Cable Car Classics, Inc., based in the heart of the Sonoma County
wine country just north of San Francisco, has been in the business
of building motorized trolleys since 1993. With a commitment to
only building quality trolleys that will stand up to the rigorous
use of tour and transit routes, Cable Car Classics, Inc., trolleys
have shown that they are the best-made trolleys in the world.
Matt Etchell, founder and president of the company, was asked by
a tour operator in San Francisco to build several trolleys in 1993.
The tour operator had been frustrated by the lack of quality trolleys
in the marketplace, and Matt's experience and reputation for building
superior homes along with his penchant for designing and fabricating
almost anything, resulted in a perfect marriage. Matt recruited
a talented bus industry electrical engineer to round out the staff,
and has been refining our trolleys ever since.
Cable cars first appeared in San Francisco in the late 1800's and
have never lost their graceful, romantic appeal. There have, however,
been quite a few technological and societal changes since then,
and Cable Car Classics, Inc., has always adapted to those changes
and incorporated them into our trolleys. Examples such as offering
wheelchair lifts on all models along with wheelchair tie-downs,
a choice of diesel, green diesel, compressed or liquid natural gas
(CNG or LNG), propane, and gasoline engines, as well as hybrid-electric
models, and a variety of floorplans help to keep Cable Car Classics,
Inc., in the lead as a trolley manufacturer.
Our friendly staff stands ready to answer any questions you may
have about our rugged--yet graceful--vehicles. We would be happy
to build one for you. If you are interested in receiving more information,
contact us and we will send you a questionnaire; once you have completed
and returned it to us, we can then respond with more exact details
about a trolley suited to your needs.
Should you be seriously interested in acquiring a Cable Car Classics,
Inc., trolley, please understand that each trolley is hand crafted
and the minimum amount of time to build one is about four months.
We do, however, stay busy and production space is occasionally booked
far in advance, so you may want to contact our sales office for
more details on availability.
Thank you for visiting the Cable Car Classics, Inc., web page--we
look forward to hearing from you!
